Welcome to the Lagniappe Dulcimer Society’s home on the Web
We are a volunteer, nonprofit organization designed for the preservation of old time musical instruments and the music they produce.
Our group originated after taking a LSU Union Leisure Class on the Mountain Dulcimer in the fall of 1997. At the end of the class we decided the only way to stay motivated and advance was to start a group who could meet on a regular basis. In February of 1998, we had our first meeting and were quite surprised we had such a large turnout. A lot of our original members are still in the group, and we’ve had to move our meeting place several times as we continue to grow.
We perform at the Downtown Farmer’s Market in Baton Rouge every first and third Saturday of the month. We also perform for Schools, Nursing homes, Senior Citizen groups, Churches, Festivals and Private Parties upon request.

All instruments are welcome at our meetings. If you have an old Dulcimer you’ve inherited or bought sometime in the past and never learned to play, bring it along. We’d be more than happy to show you how to play. (Click Here for Our Mission Statement & Membership Information)
Throughout the year we have classes for Dulcimer and sometimes other instruments, our classes range from beginners to advanced.
